Barça will not put extra stands on Montjuïc

Barça and the Barcelona City Council have already reached an agreement for the rental of the Montjuïc stadium

The Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium, located on the mountain of Montjuïc, will be the scene of FC Barcelona matches for a while

The Barça and the Barcelona’s town hall have already reached an agreement for the rental of the Montjuïc stadium and the only thing left to do is sign the agreement between Colau y The door, pending the annex on the adequacy of accesses, public transport and parking areas. The rental contract contemplates that the equipment of Xavi -with or without Lewandowski– will play there during the 2023-24 season. In principle, only during that course because, economically, Barça is interested in returning to the Camp Nou as soon as possible, even if it is with a capacity of 66,000 people, which will always be more than the 55,000 that it can put in the Estadi Olímpic. The adaptation of the works begins imminently and will be completed before the two concerts of Bruce Springsteen which will be held there at the end of April. After the passage of Bruce, it will only be necessary to change the grass. In principle, the Barça does not contemplate putting extra stands behind the goals. The reason? There is a hunch, among the Club’s experts, that there will be so many members who will ask for leave that year due to laziness to go up to Montjuïc that, in the 55,000 seats, there will be room for all the subscribers who plan to attend the matches. In any case, when the next season begins, Barça will conduct a survey among its subscribers to see what intentions they have regarding their season of exile to the unmagical mountain. Then they will decide. Without extra stands or more capacity, the savings in permits, works and infrastructure will be significant. With these savings, it’s all the same to renew Gavi in one bloody time.
