Barça warns of “actions that could intimidate” the referees after the second game

BARCELONA, 16 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The director responsible for the basketball section of FC Barcelona, Josep Cubells, believes that during the final moments of the victory of the ‘culé’ team in the second match of the final ‘Playoff’ for the title of the Endesa League, performances were seen by part of the Real Madrid players who “were able to intimidate the referees”.

“At the end of the match, as a result of the tension, certain actions were seen that we understand could have intimidated the referees who refereed the match,” said Josep Cubells this Thursday in statements to the official Barça media collected by Europa Press.

The controversial personal foul called on Walter Tavares by Cory Higgins in the last leg of the match was heavily protested in the whites’ locker room, which exploded against the referees at the end of the classic. Thus, Yabusele went to talk heatedly with the referee Pérez Pizarro and Rudy Fernández was upset in the locker room tunnel.

“We are surprised that these actions, both the one that happened on the track and the one that happened in the locker room tunnel, were not transferred to the arbitration record,” added Cubells, who stressed that the referees are “a crucial piece for the development of matches in an ACB final” and they understand that measures will be taken so that “this type of intimidation does not happen again in future matches”.
