Barça wants to quickly close Gavi’s armor

Once the relief of Ronald Koeman with the signing of Xavi Hernandez and with Ansu Fati (19) and Pedri (18) already armored, Barça wants to close as soon as possible the renewals of several players that are still in the pending portfolio. One of them is Ousmane Dembele (24), which is in its final phase and only depends on the decision of the winger himself after the club reached its maximum offer. The other is that of Gavi (17), one of the latest emerging jewels of the club that at the age of 17 is already playing in the Spanish team and in a splendid way.

The club intends to move fast although it has not yet contacted the midfielder’s representative, Ivan de la Peña. There is the will to do it as soon as possible, despite the fact that his contract does not expire until June 30, 2023. The international has already made it clear that his present and his future go through the Barça and playing at the Camp Nou, so there are no problems in the negotiation.

The intention of the football director, Mateu Alemany, is to put on the table a contract similar to that of Nico. As it is a minor player (he will turn 18 in August 2022) and according to FIFA regulations, the approach passes for a maximum duration of three years, although it could be extended two more optional with a penalty in favor of the player if they are not fulfilled. The federal regulations, which is what happened to Ansu Fati, it would invalidate this extension if the player were to report it, which is not the case. The rush comes because his release clause is very low, just 50 million euros for a player who is the great revelation of the season, in the Barça and in European football. The armor would go through raising it to such an exorbitant level that it makes any attempt desist.
