Barça TV will stop broadcasting from June 30

BARCELONA, 27 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Barça TV, the official television channel of FC Barcelona, will stop broadcasting as of June 30, after 27 years on the air, as the Blaugrana club did not renew the contract with Telefónica, the company that manages the channel.

“FC Barcelona informs that it has communicated to its provider TBSC Telefónica, the company that manages the club’s television, Barça TV, that it will not renew the contract for the provision of services, which ends on June 30, 2023,” the club announced. .

According to various media outlets, some 150 workers could lose their jobs with the closure of Barça TV, which has passed through various hands throughout its existence; from internal management by the club to Mediapro and Telefónica.

Barça TV began broadcasting in 1996 and its last day of broadcasting could be, unless there is a new change of direction, on June 30, 2023. A closure motivated by the financial problems of the club, since television cost the entity around 14 million of euros per year.

The club will, for the moment, maintain the Barça Studios platform, which it does manage and with which it will try not to lose the media speaker that Barça TV has been and still is.
