A double by Aitana Bonmatí against Real Sociedad allows the blaugranas to retain the title in Mérida

MADRID, 22 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

FC Barcelona has revalidated its women’s Spanish Super Cup title after beating Real Sociedad (0-3) in the final this Sunday, with a brace from Aitana Bonmatí, a match that allows the blaugranas to win their third trophy in the four contested editions of the tournament.

Jonatan Giráldez’s men opened the light before quarter of an hour, in an action in which Geyse assisted the Catalan striker to score the first goal of the morning. The same protagonists made it 0-2 after the break, and Oshoala, in discount, scored the third goal to confirm the first title of the season for the Catalan team.

In a vibrant duel at the Romano José Fouto Stadium in Mérida, both teams sought to prevail from the beginning. The culé team, with Marta Torrejón -author of four goals in the 2020 final against the Basques- occupying the place of the suspended Irene Paredes in the center of defense, sought to surprise an attentive San Sebastian defense on the wing.

Those of Natalia Arroyo, who presented the novelties of Amaiur Sarriegi and Synne Jensen in the eleven, warned after five minutes with a header that went outside the Spanish international after a corner kick taken by Nerea Eizagirre.

Geyse Ferreira, a cross from Patri Guijarro, responded with a header that Elena Lete caught, and found a prize just a minute later to assist Aitana Bonmatí in the first goal of the final; The Brazilian filtered a pass between the lines so that the Catalan, completely alone, scored her ninth goal of the season (min.13).

Except for the culé goal, the people from San Sebastian knew how to perfectly neutralize Jonatan Giráldez’s team, who could not display their best football in the first half in which they did not worry the Zumarraga goalkeeper excessively.

As soon as the clash resumed after the break, Aitana Bonmatí was in charge of sentencing the contest in an action similar to that of the first part; Geyse left the ‘txuri urdin’ defense behind and served the striker from Sant Pere de Ribes so that she made it 0-2 on the scoreboard (min.47). The second goal served for Jonatan Giráldez’s men to get loose. Mariona Caldentey was able to extend the lead just a couple of minutes later, but the stick repelled her shot.

Meanwhile, setbacks were piling up for the team from San Sebastián, who lost Gaby García due to injury in the 64th minute, although, despite everything, they managed to get close to the Blaugrana area in an action in which Sandra Paños saved a shot from Sanni Franssi.

Little by little, Barça put the duel to sleep and closed the account already in discount, when Lucy Bronze put a cross into the heart of the area that Oshoala, in the last play of the game, finished off with a header (min.96).
