Barça-Spotify agreement: confidentiality, but less

Next Sunday, through a telematic assembly, the compromising partners of Barcelona must approve, theoretically blindly and relying solely on the word of their president, the agreement between the Blaugrana club and the Swedish company Spotify. Said agreement includes the name of the stadium (which will be renamed Spotify Camp Nou), the front of the shirt for the men’s and women’s teams and the men’s training shirt, as well as various fringes that include advertising spaces in the stadium, press releases and promotional actions with male and female players.

All this must be voted on, supposedly, without knowing the figures provided by the streaming music reproduction company to the entity due to a confidentiality clause imposed by the corporation chaired by Daniel Ek. However, both the RAC1 radio station and the Sport newspaper detail the amounts, the concepts and the periodicity of the income, which in total would add up to 435 million.

Both media agree that for the shirt Over the next four years, Barça will enter a fixed amount of 57.5 million euros plus 2.5 million in variables. Those 60 million annually represent 240 million until 2027. For the training clothes of the first men’s and women’s squad, 5 million will be received in the next three years, i.e. 15.

The agreement for the Camp Nou is more complicated, since the circumstance is that it will be under construction and that it is contemplated that, at least for one season, Barça will play at the Estadi Olímpic. So that, Spotify will pay five million over four years (those of the works) and from the fifth year, it is assumed that with the new stadium, the figure increases to 20 million over 8 years. In total, 180 million.

Adding the 240 million for the match shirt, 15 for the training shirt and the 180 for the stadium add up to 435. Of course, with all the confidentiality that the Swedes demand.
