Barça seeks a place in the women’s ‘Champions’ quarterfinals in Munich

BARCELONA, 6 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Barça Femení seeks a place in the quarterfinals of the Women’s Champions League this Wednesday in Munich against Bayern (21:00), in an Allianz Arena that will try to emulate the spectacle in the stands of a Spotify Camp Nou that saw the win ‘culés’ by 3-0 in the previous day.

Three victories, 16 goals in favor and only 1 against for a Barça that even with a draw could seal, at the first change, their pass to the qualifying rounds of this ‘Champions’. Of course, victory is the easiest path and it is the objective for the blaugrana players.

For Barça Femení, after full victories against Benfica (9-0), Rosengard (1-4) and Bayern (3-0), it is enough to win on this fourth day but also to draw in Munich if Benfica is unable to beat Rosengard. And he will be the leader if he wins mathematician with victory and Benfica’s stumble.

So far, Barça have won their three games against Bayern and with a balance of 5 goals for none conceded. And they visit the Allianz Arena with the intention of continuing ‘to zero’ and if possible with a fourth victory against the Bavarians, who are thirsty for revenge.

To quench that thirst they will need to score. Their top scorer is Georgia Stanway with 2 goals and, on the other hand, Barça have the tournament’s top scorer in their ranks, Aitana Bonmatí with 4 goals –like Ewa Pajor (Wolfsburg) and Sam Kerr (Chelsea)–, Mariona Caldentey or Geyse with 3 goals and Clàudia Pina and Asisat Oshoala with 2.

Geyse, with a clear header, Aitana Bonmatí with a beautiful definition and Clàudia Pina from a distance were in charge of making it 3-0 on the scores of a Spotify Camp Nou that could not come close to its own attendance records due to being under construction.

Of course, Jonatan Giráldez’s team cannot relax because they have just suffered to maintain their unbeaten status in the F League. Real Sociedad, led by the Catalan Natàlia Arroyo, took the lead and Barça came from behind (2-1) with a final goal from Lucy Bronze at the last minute.

So the idea should be to go for the win to seal that pass and possible leadership. They will face the players of an Alexander Straus who arrived in Munich in June and put the team in the ‘Champions’ leaving out, in the previous one, Real Sociedad itself. In the group stage they beat Rosengard (2-1) and Benfica (2-3) before losing in Barcelona.
