FC Barcelona has largely lightened the rope that has been tightening its neck in recent months. The club announced on Friday a pre-agreement with the first team squad to reduce the salary bill by a total of approximately 172 million euros: 122 million in fixed remuneration and another 50 million more approximately in bonuses, this last amount “will be deferred in variable remuneration for three years,” according to the statement.
It is still a principle of agreement today since in the same statement it was made very clear that “It is pending ratification in the coming days by the group of players and technicians affected.”
Both parties, the Management Board and the players' representatives, congratulate themselves on the principle of agreement reached, because they value it as a “Transcendent goal in order to redirect the current economic situation.”
It must be remembered that there are several players in the squad who have already reached an individual agreement with the club to reduce their salary bill this season and defer it for the next few years. Among the players who are not affected by this preliminary agreement are Piqué, Lenglet, Ter Stegen, Pjanic and De Jong, among others.
