Barça loses like Madrid and Baskonia, solo leader

MADRID, 9 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Cazoo Baskonia took sole leadership of the Endesa League this Sunday by beating BAXI Manresa (107-92) on matchday 26, taking advantage of Barça’s defeat against Surne Bilbao Basket (82-80), in addition to the of Real Madrid on Saturday.

Joan Peñarroya’s men gave themselves a gift in the form of leadership to make more pineapple if possible with the Fernando Buesa Arena before the last dance in the regular phase of the Euroleague. The Basques, who are measured on Thursday against Olympiacos in Piraeus with the intention of signing their ticket to the ‘playoffs’, were once again a roller.

Max Heidegger, 22 points, made the most of his minutes and, along with Enoch and Costello, led the Barça party against a Manresa side who did not throw in the towel but did not have the resources of the new leader (22-4). Meanwhile, Barça completed a week to forget on their visit to Miribilla, thanks to a triple by Radicevic two seconds from the end that left the victory in Bilbao.

Sarunas Jasikevicius’ men, who were coming off a bad game against Milan in the Euroleague, also relinquished leadership in the domestic competition. The culé team took the lead with their hit of three, non-existent in a Bilbao Basket that nevertheless came up in the last quarter. Two Radicevic triples knocked down a Barça that remains at 21-5, like Real Madrid after their defeat on Saturday against Río Breogán (96-72).

On the other hand, Lenovo Tenerife neglected fourth place, accusing losses and despite coming back from 12 points to force extra time, against Real Betis with faith in permanence (80-76). Tyson Pérez, with 20 points, 9 rebounds and a PIR of 29, was the architect of a golden victory for the Béticos.

One win away from the ‘Top 4’, Juventut was placed, with Feliz and Parra playing, although regretting the important injury to Pau Ribas known shortly before the game, after beating (85-70) a Valencia Basket that continues to find it difficult to be in the ‘playoffs’ for the title. Meanwhile, Bàsquet Girona ended its losing streak of five straight losses after a great second quarter (20-6) against bottom team Carplus Fuenlabrada (85-60).
