Barça is close to the League F title and does Atlético de Madrid and Levante a favor

MADRID, 1 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

FC Barcelona Femení beat Madrid CFF by a huge 8-0 this Wednesday, with seven different scorers, in a match on matchday 25 in League F and which has helped the Blaugranas get close to the title in a mathematical way, and also to do a favor to Atlético de Madrid and Levante UD in their objective of occupying third place.

At the Estadi Johan Cruyff, and with a positive hangover after having reached the final of this season’s Champions League due to their comeback (0-2) against Chelsea, Barça faced this event against an opponent that continues to fight with mattresses and ‘ granotas’ for capturing third place in the table, which grants a ticket to the 2024/25 Champions League.

However, Madrid CFF’s opposition lasted less than seven minutes. In a bad start from behind, Patri Guijarro stole the ball and passed to Claudia Pina, who on the edge of the area and with the first touch assisted the unchecking of Alexia Putellas, who scored the 1-0 with a strong and low left foot.

Quarter of an hour into the game, Mariona Caldentey scored 2-0 with a right foot from the edge of the area that hit Ana González and entered the goal next to the post. Pina made it 3-0 in the 33rd minute, culminating a beautiful team play by Barça that included a pass from Putellas, stepping on the ball with his back turned, almost from the penalty spot.

Vicky López sealed the 4-0 in the 44th minute with a control and a left-footed volley, after a great chipped pass from Caldentey. And on the next attack, just before the break, Esmee Brugts scored the ‘little hand’ with a right hand from the left side of the rival area, having cut into a defender and having taken advantage of Putellas’ opening of the game.

The 6-0 was scored in the 48th minute by Marta Torrejón, heading a corner taken by Putellas on foot changed from the right. Although the duel slowed down, there was time to see the score 7-0 with another header from Torrejón, accurate in her shot at Brugts’ center from the right side.

Ona Batlle sealed the victory in stoppage time, thanks to a powerful left-footed shot that snuck in next to the far post. This victory placed Jonatan Giráldez’s team in the lead with 73 points, 12 ahead of Real Madrid and with five league games left to play. Meanwhile, Madrid CFF is in fifth place with 46 points, one less than Levante (4th) and two less than Atlético de Madrid (3rd).
