FC Barcelona Femení will meet this Friday its rival in the quarterfinals of the Women’s Champions League and, if it happens, also its possible rival in the semifinals, so the road to the final at the PSV Stadion in Eindhoven (Netherlands) on June 3 it will already be clear for the blaugranas, who aspire to be in it.
The UEFA headquarters in Nyon (Switzerland), as usual, will host the draw at 1:00 p.m. In the hype will be, in addition to Barça Femení, Arsenal and Chelsea from England and the German Wolfsburg as seeded teams.
In the hype for the second in the group (not seeded) are Paris Saint-Germain and Lyon (France), Rome (Italy) and Bayern Munich (Germany).
As the leader of Group D, Barça would avoid, in addition to the rest of the seeded teams, Bayern Munich, which was second in their group -the only restriction is that teams that already met in the previous round do not face each other- .
Thus, the possible rivals for Jonatan Giráldez’s team in the quarterfinals are Lyon, which, being current champion and eight-time winner, would be “coconut”, PSG — runner-up twice — and Roma, in its debut in the competition.
The blaugrana, champions of the ‘Champions’ in 2021, seek their fourth final in five seasons. Another champion club that awaits a rival is Wolfsburg, winner twice and reaching the record of eleven consecutive campaigns in the quarterfinals, and Arsenal, champion in 2007. For their part, Chelsea was runner-up in 2021.
After the draw for the quarterfinals, the semifinals will take place, with no seeding or restrictions for possible crosses. Lastly, the team that will host the Eindhoven final will also be raffled.
