Barça capsizes against the greats
Jasikevicius’ men lose to Fenerbahçe as against Olympiacos in a pessimistic week in the Euroleague
MADRID, 10 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Barça could not (81-73) with Fenerbahçe this Friday in matchday 28 of the Euroleague despite having an early lead of 17 points at the Ulker Sports And Event Hall, in another even final that escapes him under a sensation pessimistic in his title options.
Sarunas Jasikevicius’ men started with everything in Istanbul, hurt by the defeat on Tuesday against Olympiacos, but seeing that juicy income dwindle and disappear was a double challenge. Barça crumpled before the wolf and did not hit the mark either when it was already forced in the last minutes against another great rival.
The culé team, with the objective and almost obsession of winning a Euroleague that they have not won since 2010, seems further away if possible this third season of Jasikevicius. Despite being third and undoubtedly having all the ballots to be in the ‘playoffs’, the Final Four in Kaunas can make the Catalans tremble just by mentioning it.
After the defeat against the leader in Piraeus, the culé team had it in their hands to vindicate themselves against a Fenerbahçe that aims for the ‘Top 4’. Those of ‘Saras’ left a brilliant 10 minutes, despite the final success of Wilbekin, with Laprovittola, Mirotic and Kalinic. The Turkish team turned up the intensity and was cutting the 13-30 that came to suffer, with a second quarter that showed the visitor’s fragility.
The former’s law, of punishing what was his team, did not suffer with Calathes before the break (37-40), but in the restart Hayes did hurt Barça. Fenerbahçe found the success at the same time that the culé team lost it, achieving their first income (47-46). Hayes continued to ‘revenge’ him and, with the crowd pressing, Dimitrios Itoudis’s team took control.
Vesely, an old acquaintance in Istanbul for eight years, was not intimidated and fought for every ball at the start of the last quarter, and a technique to Itoudis left the culé attempt to make war. Mirotic assumed gallons despite his fourth personal foul but a triple by Wilbekin cooled the visitors’ spirits again. In the give and take for victory, Satoransky did not enter.
Laprovittola managed to make it 75-71 with a minute and a half to go, but Barça capsized once again in an important match rehearsal, of a possible ‘Final Four’, which brings them home pessimistic by avoiding another bump even though there is still time to come. Kaunas.
