Bárbara Rey alternated King Juan Carlos with Paquirri and the footballer Rexach: “We were an open couple”

“I come to tell, not to insinuate.” This is how Bárbara Rey begins her most sincere interview. The vedette has sat in Risto Mejide’s chester this Tuesday to tell, with hair and signs, how her relationship with King Juan Carlos was almost four decades ago: “We met in the year 77. Despite her principles, the actress fell for the charms of Don Juan Carlos, although they were never exclusive lovers: “We were together for several years, but I also had my love affairs. How could we not be an open couple! There was no other possibility and I had a relationship with Rexach and then another with Paquirri. At that time, it’s normal that it was open, it couldn’t be otherwise… We couldn’t demand anything from each other,” he says. Of course, the link was such that Barbara accompanied the emeritus to numerous official acts: “Birthday, Giscard D’Estaing’s dinner… They will have the photos hidden, I don’t think they have destroyed them.” And when she met the then little Prince Felipe for the first time in Zarzuela (“he was a kid”) they decided to look for another meeting place: “A house, always in that house, he always went there.”

Barbara remembers that they tapped her phones and watched her, something that Queen Sofía’s husband did not seem to care about: “He told her ‘Don’t tell me this’ or ‘Don’t talk like that because I know they are recording us’. The relationship ended with the arrival of Ángel Cristo in Barbara’s life: “I fell in love with my husband and made the decision to marry him.
