Balenziaga would like to continue, but his future is up in the air

The titular left-back of Athletic, Yuri Berchihe, is out of circulation due to its positive for coronavirus. As it is, it is time for me to come out on the scene again Balenziaga, always on duty. By the way, Zumarraga's contract ends in June and his future is still up in the air. His wish is to continue, he had a conversation with Alkorta to set the guidelines for action, but is pending if the club decides to renew him and he believes that he can continue to contribute his bit.

Regarding Sunday's game, Balenziaga, who has already participated in two appointments this year, highlights that “of course I am prepared in case the coach decides to wear me for the weekend. As usual. To try to help the team as much as possible. And you always have to be prepared. And once you play, take the opportunity ”.

In the last three seasons, the number of games per course has been decreasing. The full-back comments that “in the last three years my presence on the pitch has been less. I have always said that a player has to be prepared to be able to play on the weekend. In that regard, I am quite calm. I always want to play and contribute, but the coach decides. When it's time to be on the pitch I give my best and when I'm on the bench, the same ”.

On his continuity in the rojiblanco club, Balenziaga (2-29-1988) assumes that “we know how football works, my idea is to continue, as long as I believe that my presence adds to the team and contributes things and Athletic believes I can contribute to the team. If those two situations occur. We know how this is going, there will be more conversations and everything will be seen a bit ”.

Like From Marcos, who also ends his contract in 2021, had a contact with Alkorta to see what the process will be like. “In preseason I had a very useful talk with him. Nor do we delve into these things … It is clear that I end my contract next year with Athletic and things will be seen. Nothing else. The most important thing is if the club thinks I can continue to contribute well, but when one of those two things doesn't happen, it wouldn't make sense ”.
