Bale is reborn without Mourinho

Gareth Bale smiles again at Tottenham. The return of the Welshman to his ‘home’ has not been easy. During the Mourinho stage, he has gone through different ups and downs throughout the season. He has alternated moments in which he was ostracized with others in which he approached his best. However, his numbers so far are acceptable: 11 goals and three assists.

The last games of Mourinho, who was fired last week, were not positive for Bale: barely 10 minutes played in the last four games (Two of them saw them whole from the bench).

However, the departure of the Portuguese coach and the arrival on the bench of Ryan Mason has changed the outlook for the footballer on loan from Real Madrid. In the first duel that the new coach led, against Southampton, Bale started and scored the first goal for his team, the one who started the comeback (the Spurs started out losing and ended up winning 2-1).

After the game, Bale took the opportunity to throw a dart at Mourinho. The interviewer asked him how to improve as a team and he responded with a hint to his former coach: “We may have to attack more …”. An attack on the point that Mou has criticized the most during his time in London, that of being excessively defensive.

Return to Madrid

At Real Madrid they look with optimism at this new stage that opens at Tottenham. Bale has to return from his loan at the end of the season and the Welshman has on occasion hinted at his intention to stay in the white team, something that Valdebebas does not even contemplate.

His departure is a priority to be able to address the operations that Madrid has in mind for this summer, especially that of Mbappé. Bale's high salary is incompatible with the arrival of the French. Long ago, the white leaders gave up the option of being able to get something for the Welshman and now the hope is to be able to find a way out without having to pay him anything for the year of his contract that remains. Or as little as possible …

Mason surrenders to him

Ryan Mason, Tottenham's new coach after the dismissal of José Mourinho, spoke in the preview of Gareth Bale's Carabao Cup and did nothing but praise. It started softer: “I don't think anyone has ever doubted his ability, has shown it throughout his long career. His quality is always there, in those great moments, he always produces. “

And he continued, even more forceful, raising his figure: “I think this year has shown that in the last third of the field it is still the same as it was five or six years ago. He does not lose that instinct, that ability to be in the key moment. The other day he played like a world class and he continues to show that if you give him those opportunities, he is the player we want to see in the area. He is a world class player. It still is, regardless of age and whatever. He has not lost and will not lose that ability to find the back of the net. “
