Bagnaia takes pole position in Alcañiz and Aleix Espargaró will start fourth

Quartararo will start sixth and Marc Márquez, on his return, thirteenth

MADRID, 17 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Italian rider Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) took pole this Saturday for the MotoGP race of the Aragon Grand Prix, the fifteenth round of the Motorcycle World Championship, in a new record exhibition, while the Spanish Aleix Espargaró (Aprilia) will start fourth, in the same row as the championship leader, Frenchman Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha).

‘Pecco’ once again showed that he is in spectacular form by breaking the track record for the premier class at MotorLand Aragón; With a time of 1: 46.069, the transalpine, who recognized that he completed his “best lap ever”, guaranteed himself the fifth pole of the year with his fifth record.

Thus, he continues to cut points masterfully; In the last four Grands Prix he has recovered 61 points and now has a three point lead over Aleix -who had to go through Q1- and is 30 behind Quartararo, who could only be sixth this Saturday. In addition, he will command a Ducati front row in which he will be accompanied by the Australian Jack Miller and the also Italian Enea Bastianini.

Jorge Martín (Ducati), the fastest on Friday, will start eighth, just ahead of Alex Rins, the only representative of Suzuki in Alcañiz due to the loss of Joan Mir, whose ankle problems will prevent him from running the Aragón Grand Prix and the Japanese Grand Prix.

Meanwhile, Marc Márquez (Repsol Honda), on his return to the championship after recovering from his fourth humerus injury, was about to advance to Q2, but will finally start thirteenth. Neither did they pass the first round of qualifying Maverick Viñales (Aprilia), who will start sixteenth; Alex Márquez (Honda), seventeenth; Pol Espargaró (Repsol Honda), eighteenth; nor Raúl Fernández (KTM), twenty-first.
