Bagnaia extends his dominance to the Misano test in the return of Marc Márquez

MADRID, 6 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Italian Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) has dominated this Tuesday the intense first day of the MotoGP test at the Misano-Marco Simoncelli Circuit, a day in which the Spaniard Marc Márquez (Repsol Honda) has returned to action after his operation and in which Yamaha has released its 2023 engine.

The one from Cervera, out of competition since May due to the fourth operation on his right shoulder, rode 39 laps in the morning and rested in the afternoon to reserve for Wednesday. Riding a black Honda with a new air intake, aerodynamics and ‘downwash’ ducts in the side fairing, similar to what Ducati has used in the last two seasons, Márquez was the first to test the new parts for HRC.

Meanwhile, ‘Pecco’ Bagnaia, winner of the last four races, the last one in the last San Marino Grand Prix, once again dominated the track with a time of 1:31.292 that made him lead the ‘podium’ on Tuesday by ahead of another Ducati, that of the Italian Luca Marini, and the Spanish Aleix Espargaró, who crashed at turn 14 and who led the great Aprilia day, with Maverick Viñales fifth.

In spite of everything, those from Borgo Panigale, who made six bikes in the ‘Top 6’, apparently did not present anything new, except for a side wing that extends downwards a little more than the standard one. Jorge Martín from Madrid emerged unharmed from a fall at turn 15 and managed to finish fourth in the combined times.

For its part, Yamaha presented a new engine for 2023 that was tested by the World Championship leader, Frenchman Fabio Quartararo, who completed a total of 80 laps to take sixth place just under three tenths from Bagnaia.

At KTM, Dani Pedrosa tested for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, testing an updated saddle and tail, while at Susuki, who will not race in 2023 in the premier class, Alex Rins debuted some cooling parts for the rear of the bike and was twelfth.
