Badosa ascends to the podium of the WTA ranking with Swiatek as the new number one

MADRID, 4 Apr. (SportsFinding) –

The Spanish tennis player Paula Badosa has signed this Monday her best historical classification, third, in the WTA ranking, which has the Polish Iga Swiatek as the new number one after the sports retirement of the Australian Ashleigh Barty.

The surprise decision of the ‘aussie’, only 25 years old, has facilitated the rise of Swiatek, who improves one position to the top after being crowned champion of the ‘Sunshine Double’: Indian Wells and Miami. With 6,711 points, she leads the ranking ahead of the Czech Barbora Krejcikova (4,975).

For his part, Badosa reached his best historical position by rising three places to number three (4,970), after reaching the quarterfinals in Miami, where he had to withdraw due to injury against the American Jessica Pegula.

Meanwhile, Garbiñe Muguruza remains at number nine in the ranking with 3,070 points, Sara Sorribes drops 14 places to 49 (1,135) and Nuria Párrizas drops three to 52 (1,123).
