MADRID, 13 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Spanish tennis player Paula Badosa ended her career in the Rome tournament, category 1,000 for the WTA, by falling (6-4, 6-4) to the Russian Daria Kasatkina, a new early elimination like two weeks ago in Madrid which slows its upward trajectory.
The Catalan made a strong debut against Aliaksandra Sasnovich, but in their second meeting in the Italian capital she found herself outclassed by a very fit Kasatkina. The clash was a continuous offensive, a total assault on the rival serve entering and at midnight.
The day came late and was further extended with the elimination of Rafa Nadal against the Canadian Denis Shapovalov. The Pista Central del Foro Italico also killed Badosa, the only Spanish woman left between the two teams, around 1:00 at night.
The world number three beat the Russian earlier this year in Sydney but hit a wall in the second round. Kasatkina emerged victorious from the exchange of breaks with which she began each set. She in the first she sealed it with a fourth break for 5-4.
In the second act, Badosa tried to rebel against an identical fate, and a long eighth game was key in which the Spanish found no prize in her attack. Kasatkina did not hesitate to close his triumph. The Spanish, who left Madrid asking for a physical and mental rest, falters again in Rome.
