The president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, and the mayor of the capital, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, have mourned the loss of the actress Concha Velasco, who died this Saturday at the age of 84, of whom they have highlighted her artistic figure and also human.
“We Spaniards lose a great actress, singer, presenter… a great person very loved and admired by everyone: Concha Velasco. Sick in her last years, she always kept her genius and humor intact,” the president of the Community published on their social networks accompanying their message with a photo with the actress.
For his part, Martínez-Almeida has highlighted that his death leaves “the emptiest stages” and has announced, after sending his condolences to family and friends, that the city will “pay tribute” to him.
“The death of Concha Velasco leaves the stages emptier. Madrileña de Valladolid, Gold Medalist of our city, who will continue to move us with the legacy of her work,” the councilor has published in X.
Concha Velasco died this Saturday at the age of 84 at the Puerta de Hierro Hospital in Majadahonda (Madrid), as confirmed by her sons, Manuel and Paco Martínez.
“We regret to inform that our mother, Concha Velasco, died today, Saturday the 2nd at 02:00 at the Puerta de Hierro Hospital in Majadahonda, having received the Holy Sacraments, as a result of a complication in her illness,” the family reported. it's a statement.
Velasco suffered lymphatic cancer in 2014, and after the pandemic she herself acknowledged that her condition had worsened. It was in March 2022 when her son Manuel de ella announced to the media that her mother was admitted to a residence so that she would be cared for 24 hours a day.

Of her work in theater, her interpretations of: 'Carmen, Carmen' (1988), 'La truhana' (1992), 'La Rosa tatuada' (1997) and 'The apples of Friday' (2000) stand out, works written by Antonio Gala, also as a businesswoman and as an actress, had great success with the musical 'Hello Dolly'. In 2015 she works on 'Hécuba', and in 2016 on 'Queen Juana'.
The actress has been awarded the Goya Honor Award 2012.
