Augusto Fernández, Moto2 world champion

MADRID, 6 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish rider Augusto Fernández (Kalex) has been proclaimed Moto2 world champion after his rival for the title, the Japanese Ai Ogura (Kalex), crashed in the first stage of the Grand Prix of the Valencian Community , the last test of the Motorcycle World Championship, in which his partner Pedro Acosta (Kalex) won.

In sector 3 of lap 8 of 25 at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Cheste, when he was running second and putting pressure on the championship leader, Ogura lost the wheel and went straight into the gravel, an incident that gave the mathematical title to the Balearic Islands .

Previously, when the traffic lights went out, the Japanese had risen to second place, only behind the Italian Tony Arbolino (Kalex), forcing the Mallorcan driver to react, who fell from third to fifth position at the start.

Even so, that position was enough for him to win the title by 0.5 points ahead of Ogura, but he still moved up one more place to ensure a more comfortable income. It was then that the Japanese suffered his fall and everything was blown up.

With all pressure stripped away, Augusto focused on making his race to ultimately finish second behind Red Bull KTM Ajo teammate Pedro Acosta and ahead of Arbolino to become the first Spanish intermediate class champion since 2019. , when Alex Márquez was crowned.

In addition, Fermín Aldeguer (Boscoscuro) was fourth, ahead of Albert Arenas (Kalex) and Manu González (Kalex), Jeremy Alcoba (Kalex) finished eighth, Borja Gómez (Kalex) twelfth, Alex Escrig (MV Augusta) nineteenth and Marcos Ramirez (MC Augusta), 20th. Finally, Alonso López (Boscoscuro) and Arón Canet (Kalex) crashed and were unable to finish the race.
