Olympique de Marseille announced this Friday the signing of Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, once he passed the medical examination and after playing last season at English Chelsea.
Trained at AC Milan, Aubameyang began his career precisely in Ligue 1 to which he returned, with Dijon, Lille, Monaco and then Saint-Etienne, where he scored 41 goals in 97 games. The French-born striker won the League Cup in 2013, the year in which he also won the Marc-Vivien Foé Award for best African player in the championship.
Later, ‘Auba’ spent four seasons at Borussia Dortmund where he scored 141 goals and distributed 36 assists. He was voted the best player in the Bundesliga in the 2015-2016 season, the top scorer in the championship in 2016-2017 and remains the top foreign scorer in BVB history.
In the winter of 2018 he signed for Arsenal, where he continued to be one of the best forwards in Europe, to arrive at FC Barcelona in 2022. Last summer, the top scorer for the Gabon national team joined Chelsea, from where he moved to Marseille where he will be managed by Spanish coach Marcelino García Toral.
