ATP | Humbert wins his second title at the expense of De Miñaur

Ugo Humbert, 22-year-old Frenchman and 38th in the world, won the second title of his career this Sunday by winning the final of the ATP 250 in Antwerp the Australian of 21 and 29 of the ranking Alex de Miñaur by 6-1 and 7-6 (4) in 1h: 37.

Humbert is one of the three left-handed players who have lifted a trophy so far this season, along with Rafa Nadal (Acapulco and Roland Garros) and the Czech Jiri Vesely (Pune). He is also one of the two players from his country to win in a tournament in 2020, along with his compatriot Gael Monfils (Montpellier and Rotterdam). And the fourth player to win a title after lifting match balls (he got rid of four against Evans in the semifinals), after Vesely (Pune), Reilly Opelka (Delray Beach) and Novak Djokovic (Dubai). “I would be very proud to be number one in France one day,” he said in Antwerp.

Humbert and De Miñaur, who had never met before, played one of the youngest finals of the course. Between the two, they add only two more years (43) than the oldest active player on the circuit, Ivo Karlovic (41). In the first set, the champion overwhelmed his rival, who showed his face in the second set, but fell in the tiebreaker after saving two break points in the ninth game.
