ATP | Carlos Alcaraz verges on victory in his debut in a Masters 1,000

Carlos Alcaraz came within two points of winning in his debut at a Masters 1,000, but ultimately fell to Emil Ruusuvuori, a rival in his league., many times more difficult to beat for young people than established players who are often confident or surprised. The 17-year-old from Murcia fell in three sets (6-4, 2-6 and 7-5) in the first round of Miami Open against the 21st and 83rd Finn in the world who trains at the Rafal Nadal Academy. In fact, he trained with the owner in Manacor last December. He will be the one to face Alexander Zverev.

Carlos did not detract, far from it, the invitation that the tournament organizers granted him and he did not win due to small details, but he left a great image, especially between the start of the second set and the first games of the third. There he signed a 9-3 partial to equalize the game and get an exciting 3-1, on the way to a victory that escaped him due to some mistake, but, above all, by the merit of a Ruusuvuori, a very cold tennis player, who eliminated Monfils at the Australian Open, and who did not break down when Alcaraz ran over him in those wonderful minutes in which he confused the Finn with his variety of serves and with long and devilish remains despite the fact that almost all of them were behind the baseline.

Too bad that the disciple of Juan Carlos Ferrero, who took good note of the details of the game in a notebook, I couldn't consolidate that break in the third set. His opponent scored a blank counterbreak and then withstood the pressure when at 5-4 for the Spaniard he resolved a deuce that was more than dangerous for his interests. In the next game, Alcaraz made a mistake when executing a relatively easy drop and took a break that was definitive., despite the fact that the rest produced a hopeful 0-30 that disappeared. Thus ended another valuable lesson for an increasingly curdled boy. We will see him next week at the Challenger in Marbella.
