MADRID, 21 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –
On Wednesday night, the Cívitas Metropolitano brought together more than 30,000 Atlético de Madrid fans who celebrated the new signings of the men’s and women’s first teams, including English midfielder Conor Gallagher.
The red-and-white team carried out an unprecedented action, a ‘Welcome Night’ in which they invited their fans to their home ground to be close to the reinforcements for this new season, who were able to see for themselves what their new fans can give them. A dozen, four for the men’s team and eight for the women’s, are the additions so far and all of them, except for Silvia Lloris, called up by the national team for the U-20 World Cup, were present at the Cívitas Metropolitano.
The first to step onto the pitch after 9:00 p.m. were Fiamma Benítez, Synne Jensen, Tatiana Pinto, Rosa Otermín, Gio Queiroz, Luany and Lauren Leal, the new reinforcements for Atlético de Madrid Femenino to fight for everything in this campaign.
“I’m very happy to be here at this great club again and I’m looking forward to doing great things here,” said Queiroz, who is returning to the Madrid team, as is Otermín, who “will wear these colours to the death.”
Luany and Leal, who was signed on Wednesday like Conor Gallagher, were happy about her signing and Pinto stressed that she had come “to learn from everyone”, while Jensen made it clear that she was “happy and proud” to have joined Atlético.
“I want to keep winning and keep growing with this club, we are going to go for it and take on all the challenges that are put before us,” Benítez stressed. The absent Lloris addressed the fans via a video where she confessed to being “super excited to be part of this great club” and which she hopes to join “soon” to “celebrate many successes together.”
Later, it was the turn of the reinforcements for the team coached by Diego Pablo Simeone, starting with the first to arrive, the Spanish-French centre-back Robin Le Normand. “They had told me about the fans, but it’s something really incredible. The stadium is crazy, the fans, I can’t even tell you, the welcome is spectacular and I’m really looking forward to stepping on this pitch,” said the defender.
“It’s a dream to play here with these fans. I hope for many good moments, many goals and to win many games. The objective is to win games and score goals,” said Norwegian striker Alexander Sorloth, who opened his scoring account last Monday in LaLiga EA Sports in the 2-2 draw against Villarreal.
The new arrival of English midfielder Conor Gallagher was much more concise, daring to speak Spanish. “I don’t speak much Spanish, but I’m very happy. Go Atleti!” said the former Chelsea player, whose signing for the Colchoneros was made official hours earlier.
Finally, and probably the one that has aroused the most expectation and could have been the most applauded, it was the turn of the Argentine forward Julián Álvarez. “It is an honour to be ‘here’. Several of my teammates or ‘Cholo’ even before coming, one of the first things they told me was that I was going to fall in love with this fan base. We hope to see each other on Sunday, it is a very nice emotion,” said ‘La Araña’ in what was the prelude to the end of the party, with all the reinforcements doing a lap of honour around the field and receiving the affection of those present.
