Atlético knows the way

Atlético has taken the break as a moment to regain strength and recover from both mental and physical effort. The rojiblanco team has had a bad time in recent weeks, where setbacks have been chained (coronavirus outbreak, scoring drought, elimination in Champions …), the pursuers have squeezed a lot and started to appear some anxiety to try to get the games ahead as he was able to do at the beginning of the year.

But, with the penalty saved by Oblak in the 85th minute of the match against Alavés in between, Atlético remains the leader of LaLiga and has four points ahead of Barcelona and six over Real Madrid, who still have to face each other in two rounds. Simeone's they will have to visit the Camp Nou on matchday 35, but there is a maxim, Atlético depends on itself and knows the way. Although the sensations of play and dominance are not the same as at the start of the competition, in the case of repeating the results of the first leg matches, the title would be rojiblanco no matter what their pursuers do.

Against the ten rivals that have yet to be measured, Atlético added 28 out of 30 possible points in the first leg, escaping only two in the duel against Huesca (0-0) of the second league match for the colchoneros (fifth on the calendar, but the first three games were postponed). Curiously, despite the entity of the rivals that come in the next few days, the only puncture was against the current bottom of the competition, which has already drawn 12 games in LaLiga. Of course, Atlético's calendar is very complicated away from home.

Upon returning from the break, where the mattress club currently has eleven players concentrated with their national teams, Atlético will carry out two consecutive trips to Seville, against the Seville team and against Betis. In the first leg, they won 2-0 in both games. Against Sevilla in December, but corresponding to the first match of the league postponed, the goals of Correa and Saúl left the three points at home. Against Betis they were Llorente and Suárez the architects of the triumph. After receiving Huesca at home with the possibility of improving the result of the first leg, we will have to visit San Mamés. The game against Athletic is very fresh, tracing Muniain's goal also through Llorente and Suárez.

First leg against next rivals

Meeting Result
Athletic-Seville 2-0
Athletic-Betis 2-0
Huesca-Athletic 0-0
Athletic-Athletic 2-1
Eibar-Athletic 1-2
Athletic-Elche 3-1
Athletic-Barcelona 1-0
Real Sociedad-Athletic 0-2
Osasuna-Athletic 1-3
Athletic-Valladolid 2-0

Eibar also suffered a comeback in Ipurua against Atlético, with a double from Suárez to turn around Dmitrovic's penalty goal. Elche will be visited to try to repeat the victory of the first leg, with another double from the Uruguayan and a penalty goal from Diego Costa to sentence the match (3-1). And on matchday 35 comes the duel against Barcelona. Atlético finished in the first leg with a ten-year streak without winning the Blaugranas in the league thanks to a goal from Carrasco after overcoming Ter Stegen with a pipe and finishing from far away. Now, the challenge is even greater, since Barcelona have not lost in the league since that game and Atlético have not won at the Camp Nou since 2006.

To end the season, Atlético have chained two games in a row at the Wanda Metropolitano, against Real Sociedad and Osasuna, before finishing the championship by visiting Valladolid. At the Reale Arena, Beautiful and Llorente gave Atlético a triumph of great merit and in El Sadar a double from João Félix and a goal from Torreira (1-3) they certified three more points for the colchoneros. By last, against Valladolid there was Lemar's only goal in the league and another goal for Llorente which also served to add a victory. Therefore, aware that each match is a world and without going from match to match, Atlético is aware that it has already shown that it is capable of doing so, And in the case of repeating the streak of the first round there will be no one who can snatch a title from which they are fighting so much.
