“Atlético has top-level players and Simeone is a benchmark”

The coach of Elche, Francisco Rodriguez, affirmed this Tuesday, in a press conference, that his team faces the visit of the Atletico Madrid with humility for the entity of the rival, but with all the ambition to get the three points that would guarantee permanence.

“It is a difficult and complicated game against one of the best rivals in the category that is looking for a place to play the Champions”, recalled the coach from Almeria, who admitted that his team is still hurt by the way they lost last day in Cadiz (3-0).

Francisco downplayed the possibility that Elche could be saved during the match if their direct rivals, who play earlier, lose their matches.

“Our only objective is to try to get the three points”, he commented. Franciscowho stated that the results of the other matches will not condition the way the team plays elchealthough he acknowledged that with the people in the stadium “it is impossible not to know what happens in other stadiums”.

“If we win, we don’t have to look anywhere or think about anyone else,” said the coach, who described as a “success” the possibility that the elche can close the permanence two days from the end.

“We have done a good job, but it is not finished. I want all the points from here to the end”, added Francisco, who affirmed that Elche has not reached the situation in which it is due to luck “but because of work and ambition”.

The coach praised the Atléticoof which he commented that he has “first level players”, and especially his coach, Diego Simeonewhich he considers “a reference”.

“You can tell if he is defensive or not, but he always competes and is fighting for the leagues and the finals. He is one of the best coaches in the world, ”said the man from Almería, who once again seemed calm when questioned about his possible continuity.

“I feel valued and respected. I am very comfortable here and I enjoy every day that I come to work at Martinez Valero. When the time comes, it will be done.”
