Atlético de Madrid once again have their sights diverted

Atlético has gone from euphoria to pessimism in just one week. After the exhibition that the rojiblancos gave in their premiere in LaLiga last Sunday beating Granada 6-1, their last two games have ended with a balance of zero goals in favor. But it is not only the fact that they do not score a concern. Is that they do not even generate occasions for it. Before the Nasrid, Simeone's men shot at goal 10 times, while on Wednesday against Huesca they only fired two shots between the three sticks and seven in total to finish 0-0.

Against Villarreal the statistics were even worse: they also shot seven times, but none on goal in 90 minutes. It is the fourth time in almost nine seasons that Simeone has been on the bench of the entity that the rojiblancos finish a game without the rival goalkeeper having to intervene even once to stop or clear a shot of his. Further, yesterday was the first time this happened playing for the Wanda Metropolitano.

The first game of the Simeone era in which Atlético finished a match without shooting at goal was on May 4, 2013, on matchday 34 of the 2012-13 season against Deportivo de La Coruña in Riazor.
