Gil Marín proposes a binding vote to the Council after the consultation left more than 60,000 petitions
MADRID, 26 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The CEO of Atlético de Madrid, Miguel Ángel Gil Marín, explained this Sunday the club’s reasons for the consultation carried out this week on the new shield and revealed the results of more than 60,000 requests to eliminate the changes, a will that he announced It will go to the Board of Directors.
In an open letter published on the club’s official website, Gil Marín recalls that the Social Commission that proposed the consultation on the shield was created to “be able to clearly differentiate those corporate aspects from those of the club: feelings, ties, symbols, values and signs of identity.
“Over the last few years we have made relevant and risky decisions such as the change of the stadium, the change of the shield, investments in Academy headquarters, Atlético franchises outside our territory and now a new leisure and sports city around of the stadium, as well as hiring coaches and players to help the team compete at the highest level”, acknowledges the rojiblanco manager.
However, the commotion and the division about the shield now lead the club to take its members into account. “After verifying the result, in which almost half of our social mass (61,021 members, which represents 44% of the 138,477 members of the club) have expressed their desire for the club to consider the change, we will convene a Council of Administration as soon as possible in order to agree to launch a binding vote in which you can choose between keeping the current shield or reintroducing the previous one,” he explains.
“In the event that your decision is to return to the previous shield, I promise that the change will be carried out as soon as possible, obviously respecting the limitations of both our sponsorship and licensing contracts,” he adds, trusting that it will help to keep the athletic family “together”.
