Atlético bombs Madrid

Those of ‘Cholo’ grow with the derby and leave Ancelotti’s men without leadership and with doubts

MADRID, 24 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Atlético de Madrid beat Real Madrid (3-1) this Sunday in the sixth day of LaLiga EA Sports, a derby at the Cívitas Metropolitano that ended the streak of the white team, bombarded by the red and whites with a double from Álvaro Morata.

The former Madrid player brought out the colors of the defense of Carlo Ancelotti and also Antoine Griezmann, three unmarked headers in the visiting area to decide the capital derby. Diego Pablo Simeone’s men did not negotiate effort or forcefulness and, the 3-1 in the first minute of the second half, helped to believe.

After five out of five, the whites failed on the sixth and appointed day to give up the lead in favor of a FC Barcelona that beat RC Celta on Saturday. More in need of points, Atlético put everything on the table and Madrid sinned again with a bad start to the game and a 2-0 lead in 18 minutes.

Those of ‘Cholo’, who with one less game now have 10 points compared to Barça’s 16 and their neighbor’s 15, pushed from the start and found the gifts that Ancelotti’s team usually gives at the start of the campaign. Morata finished off a Lino cross alone to make it 1-0 after four minutes and the Metropolitano came out on top.

However, the goal changed the local intentions somewhat, as they began to play more withdrawn, waiting for a counterattack. Madrid did not take advantage of the red and white losses in a game with a lot of risk and, in another major mistake, with Rüdiger, Alaba and Fran García looking to blame, Griezmann found another header into the net (2-0).

Despite the second blow hurting the visitors, Ancelotti’s men got into the game with a brilliant cut and shot from Toni Kroos, with the hosts calling for a break. Camavinga even scored the tie, annulled by a positional offside by Rüdiger, and the whites also claimed a red card for Giménez.

The break came like rain in May for the ‘Cholo’ team and quite the opposite for a Madrid that returned with another lack of marking in the entire area, once again Morata finishing a goal after a pass from Saúl (3-1). Ancelotti’s entire comeback plan collapsed and the company faced major difficulties against a fierce Atlético.

The local team was not going to give an inch and, despite the entry of Mendy, Tchouameni, Joselu and Brahim, without Vinícius who had recovered but was left out due to gastroenteritis, it took a world for Madrid to reach the rival goal. Oblak had little work, one from Rodrygo and another from Brahim, and Atleti dominated in harmony with the Metropolitano a derby that gives momentum to their campaign after playing the worst game of the Cholo era last week.

The defeat against Valencia seems far away for the red and whites, as is the painful draw against Lazio at the start of the Champions League, while doubts assail the neighbor. Madrid, which came into the derby unscathed, shows deficiencies in defense, where it hurts Ancelotti the most, and fewer solutions than it seemed to have, with Jude Bellingham playing the red card out of desperation.
