Atlético boasts Oblak … and takes advantage of Courtois and Ter Stegen's 'gifts'

Oblak reached 200 league games at Mestalla and celebrated how he can best help the team: leaving a clean sheet. What he has achieved, on the other hand, in seven of the nine games played. Against Valencia he did not even need any of his daily miracles to achieve it. But Sometimes it's not just about making stops, but about not messing it up in easy actions. There remains in the last days the contrast between the solidity of Oblak and the rude mistakes by Ter Stegen and Courtois.

The general level of the Slovenian in his 270 rojiblanco matches is outstanding. Not only because of the great saves that have decided so many games in favor of Atleti, but because they are hardly remembered sung. “Maybe he could do something else,” has been said at one time, but Oblak's gross glitch videos, very little. Y while Atleti boasts of its goalkeeper, the other two greats lament the gifts of their own, which further elevate Jan's status.

Bad decisions for Barça and Madrid

Atlético, willing to compete in this league, also benefits from those punctures from rivals. Against Barça he did it very directly. In the Metropolitan, with 0-0 and on the edge of the break, Ter Stegen decided to leave his area in search of an impossible ball. Then Carrasco resolved the situation with a great maneuver, a spur spout not easy and an accurate shot before Lenglet got to cover the goal that the German had given.

This Saturday it was the turn of the other great rival, Real Madrid. In minute 49, with Alavés already ahead (0-1), Courtois chose to give a low and centered pass that a lively Joselu intercepted and, at an empty goal, made it 0-2. Obviously, this goal combo with the Belgian's failure (and consequent defeat) was highly celebrated in the networks by the rojiblanca fans.

In Search of The Best

So while Oblak flies to his fifth Zamora, with an average of 0.2 goals conceded per game, his opponents leave doubts. In fact, all three are nominated for The Best the best goalkeeper, along with Keylor (PSG), Neuer (Bayern) and Alisson (Liverpool). The German, European champion, is the favorite, although by individual merits Oblak continues to show year after year that he can argue the position of best goalkeeper in the world to anyone …
