Athenea, Arnold Clark Cup MVP, and Alexia Putellas, Golden Boot

The Real Madrid player Athena of the Castle has been designated best player, and the Barcelona player Alexia Putellas, golden boot, of the Arnold Clark Cup, in which the Spanish team finished second with the same points (5) as England, champion.

Athenea was chosen MVP of the tournament for his performances against Germany (1-1), England (0-0) and Canada (1-0).

“Very happy for the award and because I had the opportunity to come. The bad thing was not being able to finish as champions, but we are prepared for what is to come and very happy to have been able to participate,” Athenea said in statements broadcast by the RFEF.

Alexia Putellas, winner of the Ballon d’Or and FIFA’s The Best trophy, scored both of Spain’s goals in this tournament, against Germany in Middlesbrough and against Canada in Wolverhampton.

“We wanted to come to compete against the best. We want to do something big in the summer and this has been a good test. We have to keep working. There are many codas to improve. This is the level at which we compete,” said Putellas.
