At Lambeau Field, the Packers let Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield have a perfect throw rating.
Each of the last two seasons, the QB Baker Mayfield’s teams lost at Lambeau Field. On Sunday, he went back to Green Bay and led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers into a 34-20 win of the Packers.
With 22 completions out of 28 attempts, Mayfield threw for 381 yards, four touchdowns, and no picks. Mayfield smashed zone defense and hit the Packers hard all over the field.
In wins over Mayfield in 2021 and 2022, the Packers sacked him 10 times and intercepted five passes. But on Sunday, the veteran quarterback struck back at the famous stadium.
Mayfield completed 78.6% of his passes, which means he made 13.6 yards per attempt and 17.3 yards per catch.
There were touchdowns for Mike Evans, Rachael White, Ko Kieft, as well as David Moore. Four other players caught passes of 20 yards or more.
Chris Godwin grabbed 10 passes for 155 yards. Evans, White, Moore, and White all had touchdown plays of 19 yards or more, with Moore scoring from 52 yards out.
Mayfield’s best passer rating in his career was 151.2. In his ninth start, on Sunday, he had a passer rating for at least 125.5.
Tommy DeVito, the quarterback for the Giants, was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week following a nearly perfect game against the Packers last week. In Week 15, the same thing is going to happen to Mayfield.
Before coming in, Mayfield was throwing less than half of his passes in the last two games for the Buccaneers. No. 1 pick Bryce Young as well as the Carolina Panthers will play the Packers next week.
Baker Mayfield likely felt scared when he woke up. The former first-round pick played his best game with the Buccaneers on Sunday, when he led the team to a 34–20 win over the Packers.
In the process, Mayfield got the first quarterback from outside of Wisconsin to have a perfect passer evaluation at Lambeau Field.
In his third straight win, Mayfield led the Buccaneers to 381 yards as well as four scores through 22 of 28 passes. Like Mayfield, Chris Godwin had a huge day. He caught 10 passes for 155 yards.
With 21 runs for 89 yards, Rachaad White helped Mayfield or the passing game. Along with three other Buccaneers, White caught a touchdown pass.
The Packers’ attack, led by Jordan Love, tried to keep up and were only three points behind at the end of the third quarter.
But a good drive that stopped in the danger zone and two turnovers in the fourth quarter clinched the Packers’ fate.
In the end, Love completed 29 out of 39 passes for 284 yards and two touchdowns. However, the running game only gained 60 yards on 17 runs, which did not help Love much.
The pace of the game was set by Tampa Bay the whole time. After all was said and done, the Buccaneers’ best players played like stars, especially Godwin, who made every one of his chances.
The Buccaneers’ attack was almost perfectly balanced, with 27 runs and 28 passes. Todd Bowles’ defense made a lot of big plays in the red zone, like a turnover on downs during the Packers’ first drive.
Godwin made a play that set up Mike Evans for a big play early in the second quarter. Evans had a quiet first few minutes but then scored from 19 yards out to give Tampa Bay the lead for good.
Even though Green Bay sacked Mayfield five times, they couldn’t stop him. White, who has run for at least 84 yards in each of Tampa’s last four games, was even worse for Green Bay.
On offense, the Packers didn’t have a running game after Aaron Jones had some early success.
Even though Love and his teammates played well, they missed two of five red zone shots, which was a big reason why they lost. Green Bay had no chance of making a comeback after Love’s late fumble.
