MADRID, 19 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Astralpool CN Sabadell was proclaimed champion of the XXVII edition of the SM La Reina Iberdrola Cup after winning 8-6 in this Sunday’s final against Assolim CN Mataró.
The final had emotion and equality between the two most fit teams in Europe. CN Sabadell, who lost the Cup to Mataró last year, regained their crown as the great dominator of the competition’s historical record with their eighteenth title.
Bea Ortiz started with two great goals, but CN Mataró responded with a 0-4 partial to make it 2-4 ahead of the long break. However, on the return he changed the script and Sabadell came out in a rush to link a 4-0. Elena Ruiz, Bea Ortiz and Maica García put the Vallesanas two up (6-4).
Avegno gave the reaction that the Ballart team needed in the last quarter, but Elena Ruiz once again put Astralpool Sabadell on the road to victory, which defended well to avoid missing out on a second final in a row.
