Kevin Sánchez replaces him and completes the trident of hurdlers along with Daniel Cisneros and Enrique Llopis
MADRID, 27 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Spanish athlete Asier Martínez will be withdrawn from the European Indoor Track Championships, which will take place from March 2 to 5 in Istanbul (Turkey), due to an “episode of low back pain” that prevents him from competing “one hundred percent”, according to announced the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation (RFEA) and the athlete himself on social networks.
“This weekend, unfortunately, I will not be able to participate in the European Indoor Championships. An episode of low back pain prevents me from being one hundred percent. I wish all the luck in the world to my teammates,” the athlete from Navarre reported in a message on his Twitter profile.
Martínez, 22, had the minimum to compete since last year, when he was proclaimed outdoor continental champion in the 110-meter hurdles and took bronze over the same distance at the World Championships in Oregon (United States). In the recent national tournament, he did not have his best day, stumbling in the final with several hurdles.
His replacement in Istanbul will be Kevin Sánchez, 23 years old and fourth in those 60 mv of the Spanish Championship held in Gallur. The Valencian completes the trident of hurdlers for said distance together with Enrique Llopis and Daniel Cisneros, national ‘indoor’ champion and runner-up, respectively.
