The athlete Asier Martínez has inaugurated the medal table for the Spanish delegation at the World Athletics Championships, which takes place in Eugene (United States), with a bronze in the final of the 110-meter hurdles and a mark of 13 seconds and 17 hundredths , a new record for Spain under-23.
In a final without the Olympic champion, the Jamaican Hansle Parchment, Asier Martínez was only surpassed by the Americans Grant Holloway (13.03) and Trey Cunnigham (13.08), who won gold and silver, respectively.
Martínez’s bronze culminated a day at the Hayward Field Stadium, which was the scene of the classification 15 years later, and for the fifth time in history, of three Spaniards for the final of the queen middle-distance test, the 1,500 meters: Ignacio Fontes , Mario Garcia and Mohamed Katir.
