ASICS opens the Chojo Camp Europa, an altitude training center in Font-Romeu

MADRID, 11 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

ASICS has opened the Chojo Camp Europe, the first altitude training center for the professional athletes of the Japanese sports equipment multinational in Europe, located in Font-Romeu (France).

Continuing ASICS’ efforts to support its athletes by offering them the best products and care for both mind and body, the camp has been designed to help runners feel and perform at their best.

The camp, led by Dave Klink, will house around 20 ASICS athletes, both short and long distance, and will offer access to a new running track, hypoxia chamber, weight and fitness room, along with a recovery pool.

During your stay in one of the brand’s chalets, a team of physiotherapists, psychologists and doctors will be available to provide the physical and mental care that athletes need to feel and train at their best.

“We are excited to open Chojo Camp Europe today. The physical and mental well-being of our athletes has always been important to ASICS. We have been able to support them with products, physical care such as physiotherapists, mental health services and now with their own space to prepare for competitions. The campus is a fantastic opportunity for our athletes to meet and train in the best conditions.Looking forward to the World Championships in Budapest this year and Paris next year, we are sure this will help our athletes to pre stand up to be at your best level,” said Olivier Mignon, ASICS EMEA Sports Marketing Director.

Names like Eilish McColgan, Sarah Lathi and Mo Katir are already preparing to establish their base in Font-Romeu while they train for upcoming challenges such as the World Athletics Championships in Budapest in 2023 or the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024.

Mo Katir, a national record holder at 1,500, 3,000 and 5,000 meters, noted that altitude training is an integral part of his training. “The benefits are known to all top-level athletes. For ASICS to allow us to establish our base in Font Romeu at this crucial time before Budapest and Paris is fantastic and shows the brand’s dedication to the physical and mental well-being of its team.” , he pointed.

The term ‘Chojo’ has a long history at ASICS. The founder himself, Kihachiro Onitsuka, frequently used the term in internal conversations and when referring to new projects. The word translates from Japanese as ‘strive for the top’, which is reflected in ASICS’ focus on product and service innovation.

In addition to the European facility, ASICS has also established a training camp in Iten, Kenya to support the development of new athletes on the African continent.
