Asensio, target San Mamés

Marco Asensio works against the clock to be able to be available to Carlo Ancelotti in the quarter-final match of the Copa del Rey against Athletic that will be played on Thursday, February 3 in San Mames. The Balearic footballer was injured on January 12, at the Super Cup Classic, and since then he has been absent in the Super Cup final against Athletic and in the two games against Elche.

Initially, the forecast is that Asensio was out for between two and three weeks, a period that allows you to hurry up your options to be in San Mames next week. Today the white club has informed that the ’11’ has taken another step in the recovery of his muscular ailment, and that is that the Balearic has begun to touch the ball on the pitch in the return of the team from Carlo Ancelotti back to work after two days off.

The presence of Asensio in the Cathedral would alleviate some of the problems that the transalpine coach has to face to shape the white attack. With Karim Benzema between cottons due to muscular discomfort that forced him to request the change against Elche and with Vinicius and Rodrygo with Brazil, the alternatives handled by the technician are very limited and precarious. Right now, the strikers available for Ancelotti are Jovic, Mariano, Bale, and Hazard. Between the four (fixed substitutes) they only add three goals in the entire campaign and the Welshman has not had minutes with Madrid since last August.

The Balearic winger has seven goals this season and only Benzema (24) and Vinicius (15) they have better scoring records in the squad, so their participation in the Cup seems vital for a Madrid that will play to be or not to be the KO tournament without several of its mainstays.
