Asensio smiles with Ancelotti

Carlo Ancelotti and Marco Asensio understand each other. One of the goals that the Italian coach set for himself when he landed is to recover the best version of the Balearic Islands, facing a decisive season after finally overcoming a serious knee injury. The coach conveyed his confidence to him before he left for the Olympics and, upon returning, spoke a lot with him about the role he intends for him to play in the squad.

The function that Carletto Marco wants to like the player a lot. He intends to reconvert him in a similar way to what he did (successfully) with Di María in his first stage. Delay him a few meters, remove the obligation to be glued to one of the bands and that much more comes into play. That function fits perfectly with something that the Balearic Islands demanded. He has always been extreme, but with the freedom to associate, appear inside, take the last pass and look for shooting areas. He feels too corseted when they demand to be close to the wing, especially when playing on the left. Therefore, Ancelotti's role fits with his intention to have a role in which he participates more in the game.

The Italian is a specialist in bringing out the best version of talented footballers, as he has shown in Madrid with others like James or Isco. He likes to give them free rein to develop their talent and they usually respond with defensive commitment, something that Carletto ask in return.

That has been understood perfectly by Asensio, who although he has not started this season yet has left good minutes as an interior, especially in the last game against Betis. He cut several balls that ended in dangerous plays, exhibited stride, brushed the goal and was very committed when the Andalusians squeezed in the final stretch.

In the club the feeling between coach and player, because they are aware of the potential of the Spaniard and also of his commitment, since last summer he rejected important offers to leave (something that happens in every market). He only wants to triumph in white and in Madrid they trust that Ancelotti's hand will see that version of Asensio that dazzled the world in his early years at the Bernabéu.
