MADRID, 19 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Arsenal thrashed Crystal Palace (4-1) this Sunday on matchday 28 of the Premier League and, with Manchester City playing the FA Cup this weekend, put Pep Guardiola’s men eight points behind in the fight for title.
Mikel Arteta’s men linked their sixth consecutive victory in the league to forget the elimination this week in the Europa League, on penalties against Sporting, and redouble their commitment to conquer the Premier 19 years later. The ‘Gunner’ team put the London derby on track against Palace at halftime.
Martinelli and Saka, an assistant in the first, left a 2-0 lead in the second half that Xhaka put on weight shortly after the restart. Schlupp cut back for a Palace in search of a new coach after the dismissal this week of Patrick Vieira.
However, neither the victory nor the party at the Emirates was in jeopardy, as Saka rounded off his great afternoon with the double with 15 minutes remaining. Those of Arteta thus add 69 points to the 61 of a City that has one game less. Palace is seen three points from relegation.
