Arsenal scores five against Sheffield and does not let up at the top of the Premier League

Newcastle draw on their visit to Wolverhampton (2-2)

MADRID, 28 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Arsenal FC beat Sheffield United 5-0 this Saturday, with a hat-trick from Eddie Nketiah, on matchday 10 of the Premier League where Chelsea FC lost at home against Brentford FC (0-2) and Newcastle United tied on their visit to Wolverhampton Wanderers (2-2).

At the Emirates Stadium, the locals took the lead shortly before the half-hour mark; Nketiah controlled a pass from Declan Rice in the area and scored first. Upon returning from the locker room, Arsenal’s ’14’ made it 2-0 taking advantage of a poor clearance by the goalkeeper in a corner, and then making it 3-0 with a right hand from the edge of the area and almost into the top corner.

Fabio Vieira scored the fourth from a penalty in the 88th minute and Takehiro Tomiyasu in stoppage time closed the gap on another corner poorly defended by Sheffield. This result put the Gunners with 24 points, in second position and having responded to the victory of the leader Tottenham Hotspur over Crystal Palace (1-2) the day before.

For its part, Sheffield remained bottom (1 pt.), just behind Burnley (4 pts.) who lost 1-2 in their visit to Bournemouth this Saturday (6 pts.). In the middle of the table, Chelsea (12 points) suffered its fourth defeat of the current league season; A goal from Ethan Pinnock in the 58th minute and another from Bryan Mbeumo in added time gave Brentford the victory (13 pts.).

Finally, at the Molineux Stadium, a beautiful goal from Hee-Chan Hwang in the 71st minute sealed the final tie between Wolves and a Newcastle that had gone 1-2 with a double from Callum Wilson. Mario Lemina had scored the first goal for the local team, which is still in the temperate zone with 12 points; For their part, the ‘magpies’ now have 17 points.
