Arsenal once again leads the Premier

Arteta's men beat Brighton and Liverpool draw with Manchester United

Aston Villa won and equaled the Reds, one point behind the lead

MADRID, 17 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Arsenal left matchday 17 of the Premier this Sunday with the lead after beating Brighton (2-0) and with Liverpool's draw against Manchester United (0-0), while Aston Villa added the three points to match the 'reds'.

The Gunners delivered at the Emirates with goals in the second half from Gabriel Jesus and Havertz. Mikel Arteta's men were better in the first half, but it was not reflected on the scoreboard against a Brighton that did not bother the Londoners since shortly after the restart it fell to 1-0.

Arsenal's performance also allowed them to stay at the top of the table, since in Sunday's finale Liverpool couldn't beat United. Jurgen Klopp's men had more chances but missed their aim. Those of Ten Hag, in the midst of a major crisis of play and results, accepted the point.

The match at Anfield, which resulted in Diogo Dalot's expulsion for two consecutive yellow cards in stoppage time, leads Liverpool in the Premier League, with Arsenal on 39 points and Liverpool on 38 and Aston Villa as the new order.

Unai Emery's men did not fail, although with a lot of suspense against Brentford, as they achieved the comeback in the last 20 minutes after Ben Mee was sent off. The direct red card to the defender gave wings to a Villa that tied through the Spanish Álex Moreno and made it 1-2 in the 85th minute with Ollie Watkins.

The duel was of high tension, a lot of scuffle in Watkins' celebration, and disagreement between the players, with Dibu Martínez and Neal Maupay bordering on more expulsions than Kamara did see in Emery's team in a long stoppage time. Brentford, famous for their victories against the 'big boys', did not prevent the 'Villains' from tying for second place.
