Arsenal do not give up with a vibrant victory over Newcastle

Arteta’s men maintain their trump card for the title and the ‘magpies’ see the fight for the ‘Champions’ tighten

MADRID, 7 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Arsenal won (0-2) this Sunday at St James’ Park to put pressure on Manchester City and maintain their asset in the fight for the Premier, while Newcastle sees the fight for the Champions League zone tighten.

Mikel Arteta’s team emerged victorious from the most demanding game left on their calendar, three days now only for the Londoners with the hope that City would stumble. The ‘Gunners’ are one of Pep Guardiola’s with these three points, but with one more game.

With the second victory in a row, Arsenal at least maintains the excitement, although they will regret the lost opportunity, if confirmed, to be champion 19 years later. Arteta’s men survived an incessant roar at the start of the match, with a ball hitting the post from Jacob Murphy after two minutes and much danger from Isak.

Newcastle savored at times a penalty that the referee canceled with the VAR and, with St James’ Park excited to the maximum, Odegaard appeared with a left-footed shot from outside the area close to the post (0-1). The Norwegian, however, forgave a very clear one in the long discount of a hectic first half, with pique and intense.

The restart was with another post from the locals, this time from a header from Isak. Arsenal responded immediately, with another ball to the woodwork from Martinelli and the Brazilian was the one who generated the 0-2 attack, at Schar’s own goal, 20 minutes from time. A triumph of faith at Arsenal and a defeat that leaves the ‘magpies’ pending what Manchester United does in the match that closes the day this Sunday.
