Argentina snatches the leadership of the FIFA ranking from Brazil and Spain closes the ‘Top 10’

MADRID, 6 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Argentine team, current world champion after being crowned in Qatar, is the new leader in the FIFA ranking six years later, after taking that first place from Brazil, which falls to third place, while the Spanish team maintains its place and closes a ‘Top 10’ without significant changes.

According to the classification updated by FIFA this Thursday, the ‘Albiceleste’ returns to the top of the world ranking six years after occupying that first place. After prevailing in their friendlies against Panama (2-0) and Curaçao (7-0), the world champions dethrone Brazil, which becomes third, after losing (2-1) to Morocco in the last international window.

Thus, the ‘Canarinha’ also loses second place to go on to close the ‘podium’, so France, finalist in Qatar, goes on to carry the ‘silver’ of the ranking, thanks to their victories in the first two qualifying matches for Euro 2024, against the Netherlands (4-0) and Ireland (0-1).

These have been the only changes within the ‘Top 10’ of the ranking, with Belgium in fourth position, closely followed by England, closing the list of the five best teams. The new Spanish team led by Luis de la Fuente, who beat Norway (3-0) and lost (2-0) to Scotland in their EURO qualifying debut, remains in tenth place.
