Alphonse Areola is already owned by West Ham. After playing last season on loan from PSG, the 29-year-old French goalkeeper has signed a five-year contract, until 2027, with the option of another, as announced by the London club.

West Ham reserved a purchase option a year ago in Areola’s loan contract and, although they did not reveal the amount they pay for the transfer, PSG will receive around 12 million euros.
Areola, world champion in 2018 and current third goalkeeper of the French national team, is definitely leaving PSG, in whose ranks he was trained before signing his first professional contract in 2009, after failing to settle in their squad after successive assignments in Lens ( 2013-2014), Bastia (2014-2015), Villarreal (2015-2016), Real Madrid (2019-2020), Fulham (2020-2021) and West Ham (2021-2022).
Without a place at PSG due to competition from Keylor Navas and Gianluigi Donnarumma, Areola was only lined up last season by David Moyes at West Ham in FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League matches, a competition in which he had a good performance until his elimination in the semifinals.
“Alphonse was a great asset to the club during his loan period last season. His performances reinforced our idea that he is a top-level goalkeeper,” said David Moyes in a statement to justify his decision.
Moyes lined up Polish Lukasz Fabianski as the starter in the Premier, who at 37 years old renewed his contract for one more season in May, and West Ham finished in seventh place, qualifying for the Conference League.
“The atmosphere last season was great, so I just wanted to do my best to stay here,” he says. “I feel comfortable, when I sign for a club I want to feel like it’s like my second family.”
