Approved 'LaLiga Impulso' without Real Madrid or Barça by 38-4

LaLiga Impulso is already a fact. The Assembly of First and Second Division clubs has approved the LaLiga project with the CVC investment fund. This fund will inject into employers up to almost 2,700 million euros to be distributed among all the clubs that have approved the agreement, 38 of the 42 that make up the employer's association. A loan to be repaid in 40 years at low interest, and in exchange CVC will receive 11% of the income from LaLiga's non-audiovisual businesses and 10.95% from audiovisual businesses in the next 50 years.

The agreement has gone ahead despite the fact that Tebas has encountered opposition from the two great Spanish clubs in recent days. Real Madrid and Barcelona, ​​in addition to the RFEF, were the ones who expressed it publicly, while many others had positioned themselves in favor. The meeting, which began at 10:30, lasted up to more than six hours and had tense episodes during question time. To carry it out, LaLiga has needed a reinforced majority of the 42 clubs, that is, at least 32 yeses were required and also a new offer from the investment fund, which It allows Real Madrid (which it has announced that it will challenge), Barcelona, ​​Athletic and Oviedo out of the agreement. In total, the result of the secret vote ended with a 38-4 in favor of LaLiga Impulso. Athletic explained its reasons in an official statement, as did Oviedo later.

CVC, who attended the Assembly together with Rothschild to present the project to all the cubes, changed the roadmap in the last hours and opened the possibility that these clubs that do not want to participate in the agreement leave out the percentage to be assigned of their television rights. Of course, they would not have access to their corresponding part of the loan of 2,700 million euros as long as they maintain this position. This will lead to this fund reducing its investment from € 2,700 to € 2,100M, since the corresponding part for Madrid, Barcelona, ​​Athletic around 600 million. Although Oviedo is studying accepting the loan despite voting against. Club money

In your strategic plan, LaLiga does not want this injection to professional clubs to be directed only to cover holes, to allow signings that days ago were unthinkable or to raise salaries. For this reason, a series of obligations has been delivered for which the clubs have a very marked roadmap to be able to squeeze that money: 70% must be used to pay for infrastructure and new investments, 15% to refinance the debt and face the losses suffered by the pandemic (more than 1,000 million) and the remaining 15% can be used in templates. Presidents can refuse to receive this loan, but in this way they would see how their rivals are strengthened by dividing the same figure among fewer beneficiaries.

The amounts to be received by each club will be distributed following the same criteria as with the income from television rights of the last seven seasons. The one that will receive the most money of the 2,430 million (90% of the total) will be Barça, with about 270 (40, 15%, for the squad), while a Second half table may receive up to about 40 million in total . The clubs will be the ones to decide whether to spend that game now, in a year, two or three as a cap.
