Antoñín and Sekou: the return of the panthers

Antoñín and Sekou scored their first goal for Málaga this season. Two goals that gave the team its seventh victory at La Rosaleda against an excellent Las Palmas. The team maintains its home strength and pushes for the playoff zone.

These two strikers had not felt the happiness of the soccer sauce for more than a year. Antoñín’s last goal was with the Rayo Vallecano shirt against Fuenlabrada on 10-29-2020. The man from La Palmilla also punched the Malaguista goal in the franjirrojo win 4-0.

Sekou had not scored since November 14, 2020. He did it from a penalty with the shirt from Fuenlabrada to Espanyol. Although this is his first goal as a Malaguista, that of Granollers had already scored on two previous occasions at La Rosaleda, but with the Almería shirt; the first on 9-11-2018 in a Cup match (1-2) and the second on 9-7-2019 in a League match. Manolo Gaspar, the sports director, had always had his eye on him.

Sekou’s desire

The ’22’ explained the intrahistory of his formidable header goal at the exit of a corner thrown by Jozabed. “We made this play this morning (the team trained on the Saturday morning before the game) and I finished off and I didn’t get it. It is difficult for defenses to enter the race. The center was perfect and the shot was good. The play was to score a goal. I have been able to catch it, it has entered and I am super happy ”.

The player expanded on the importance of scoring. “With the injuries I have not had continuity to take the form. On November 15 of last year I was injured. I have taken a weight off my shoulders. For a striker it is important to score, more with the fans. To continue taking the form and helping the team and if it is with goals, the better. I always want to score a goal, it’s my job and what they are going to judge me for. With less minutes than in other games I have scored a goal. Super happy on a personal and collective level. I hope to continue improving and if it is with goals, the better ”.

Support from the fans. “It is appreciated that more than 22,000 people come with the rain, that motivates. Thank you on behalf of the team. Las Palmas has been the team that has demanded the most from us and that has played the best here at La Rosaleda. It is the first time that we have won two games in a row. The team is enthusiastic and eager to win away from home ”.

The happiness of Antoñín

A much desired goal. “I am very happy, the goal I wanted to arrive and with victory, which is the most important thing. I am super happy. Also, here, with the family and with all the fans. That gives us a very important plus ”.

He also launched a message for the fansn “On behalf of the Málaga CF squad, we want to thank all the clubs and cabbages for coming to La Rosaleda today and we always look forward to seeing them as they have brought us luck”.
