Anthony Davis, D’Angelo Russell, as well as Cam Reddish will not play in the Lakers vs. Spurs game.
It took a 45–30 deficit in the fourth quarter, but the Los Angeles Lakers held on to prevail over the San Antonio Spurs in Wednesday night. On Wednesday, everyone was watching Davis play the youngster Victor Wembanyama.
That was the 18th straight loss to the Spurs. Now it’s time for the Lakers to bring it 19 when they play again on Friday night in San Antonio.
James didn’t play on Wednesday, but he looks ready to go over this game since he, Prince, or Vanderbilt are all in it. Four players for L.A. can’t play because Davis, Russell, as well as Reddish are all hurt.
Davis scored 37 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, gave one assist, and stole four balls in their first game. Wembanyama scored 30 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, gave two assists, stole three balls, and blocked six shots.
They both made huge dunks that beat the other, and after the game, they showed each other some love. Wembanyama said his was looking at playing Davis again, but that won’t happen until after Davis’s absence on Friday.
To slow down Wembanyama, the Lakers’ backup big men, Christian Wood and Jaxson Hayes, need to step up. In Russell and Reddish’s absence, Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura, as well as Max Christie need to do their thing.
No matter what, L.A. should be much better now that James is back in the mix. LeBron has been on a tear lately, even though he missed the first game.
In his last 13 games, he has averaged 26.1 points, 6.8 rebounds, as well as 7.7 assists while hitting 53.9 percent to the field as well as 43 percent from 3-point range.
The Lakers have won 13 of their last 18 games since the beginning of the year, when they were 3–5. They hope to keep that winning streak going against a team that hasn’t won since a beginning of November.
NEW YORK (AP) The San Antonio Spurs beat the Los Angeles Lakers 129-115 on Friday night, ending an 18-game losing streak. Devin Vassell scored 36 points and Victor Wembanyama added 13 points and 15 rebounds.
James missed Wednesday’s Lakers game because of a bruised left leg, but he came back and possessed 23 points and 10 rebounds. The Lakers had played their third game within four nights and won the NBA In-Season Tournament.
Anthony Davis missed the game because of a hip injury. On Wednesday, he scored 37 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to help the Lakers beat the Spurs 122-119.
Los Angeles also didn’t have D’Angelo Russell (migraine) or Cam Reddish (right knee pain). They had their first win since defeating Phoenix on November 2. It was the longest losing streak in the team’s history, longer than last season’s 16-game skid.
Kevin Durant and Zach Collins both scored 16 points for the Spurs. The Lakers sought to make up for Davis’s absence by scoring in a variety of ways. Rui Hachimura scored 20 points and Austin Reaves scored 22.
Four minutes into the game, San Antonio already had a double-digit lead. Three minutes onto the second quarter, Doug McDermott made a 3-pointer that made the score 49-24.
The Lakers quickly lost their 25-point lead by going on a 38–17 run to start the second quarter. For a basket, Christian Wood pushed Wembanyama out of the way. With 19 seconds left within the first half, Wood cut the Spurs’ lead to 66-62.
Small ahead LeBron James missed Wednesday night’s game because he hurt his left leg. It was the second night of a back-to-back set of games. For tonight, the 38-year-old is still uncertain.
Thursday against San Antonio, Anthony Davis scored 37 points as well as grabbed 10 rebounds.
He is doubtful because he is still having problems with his left adductor and hip spasms. Taurean Prince, the starting shooting guard, is also not sure if he will play.
Gabe Vincent, a reserve guard, will not be able to attend the events this evening. He is the only rotational Laker who will not be able to do so. So far this year, he’s only played in four games.
A new medical report from the league says that reserve power ahead Jarred Vanderbilt (low back spasm) is likely to play after missing the first game of the season against the Spurs.
Also out tonight are rookies Jalen Hood-Schifino as well as Max Christie, but neither of them plays a lot of minutes.
