As AS announced, Ansu Fati has not been able to dribble in any case the operating room to solve his tear of the medial meniscus in his left knee. The forward, after visiting the prestigious traumatologist Ramon Cugat this Sunday morning, has decided to give the green light to the operation, which the club announced in a statement, will take place this Monday under the supervision of the club doctors.
At first, the goal of doctors is to save the damaged meniscus at all costs. This means that you will have to suture and it will take approximately three months to heal perfectly, to which we must add another month to return to the playing fields with guarantees, so Fati's sick leave time would be around four months.
But it will not be until they open the left knee during arthroscopy that they can make an accurate assessment of the condition of the meniscus. It cannot be ruled out that only a part will eventually be removed if it is not excessively damaged. In this case, recovery time I know would trim notably, since we would be around two months off.
What is certain is that Ansu Fati will not play again until 2021. At best it could return in early January and at worst in mid-March.
Doctors point out that the fact that the internal meniscus is the affected one and not the external one greatly facilitates rehabilitation, so the terms could be shortened if the evolution is satisfactory.
In any case, we will have to wait for the arthroscopy on Monday to know the exact extent of the injury and to be able to give a much more exact prognosis about the time that the young Blaugrana striker will be out.
