After debuting last July 8 with a double in the 3-5 that the ‘gunners’ endorsed Nuremberg, of the German Second Division, today the Brazilian striker, signed for 52.2 million euros to Manchester City, opened with his both the 2-0 victory of Mikel Arteta’s team against Frank Lampard’s Everton at the M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore (United States). Bukayo Saka closed the scoring.

Gabriel Jesus, in his first game as a starter as a ‘gunner’, scored a classy goal in the 33rd minute. Martin Odegaard took a corner, no one headed the ball and it was controlled by the Brazilian, unmarked at the far post, with quality and in the blink of an eye he took it to the net with a dry shot hit the short post that he overcame to goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

“Create chaos, it’s what we need”, highlights Arteta

After the game Arteta praised Gabriel Jesus and stood out. “He creates chaos, creates uncertainty and is always on your shoulder,” said the Basque coach. “He’s a real threat and this is what we need. He’s very versatile, but obviously how we’d like to develop him is at that 9 position.”

But Gabriel Jesus also stood out outside of that position. Just two minutes later, he received the attacking midfielder, went in and put a deep ball that Gabriel Martinelli did not manage to finish off but Bukayo Saka, who was following the play, only had to push it into the net.

Three games, three wins for Arsenal

Arsenal continue their winning streak in their first three pre-season games as they began their preparation by beating Ipswich 5-1 on July 2, before signing Gabriel Jesus, but beyond the results, the team from Arteta is offering an interesting attacking game thanks to the influence of the Brazilian.

Arsenal will play two more friendlies in the United States against Orlando City (20th) and Chelsea (23rd). On July 30, they will host Sevilla at the Emirates Stadium and their debut in the Premier League will be on August 5 at home against Crystal Palace.
